Searches companies by name using the site's typeahead search and returns the matching companies (one row per company) with the slug used by get_company. Results are the site's own match set for the query (typically a handful of rows, no pagination); a query with no matching company returns an empty companies list as a success.

About the Fundraising Fox API

Company Search and Directory

Use search_companies to look up any venture-backed company by name or fragment. The response returns each match's slug, name, hq_city, domain, yc_batch, is_public flag, and logo_url. That slug is the key passed to get_company. For bulk traversal, list_companies pages through the full alphabetical directory 24 rows at a time — each row includes a short description (nullable), investor_count, and the same slug. The total_companies field reflects the site-published count of tracked companies across all pages.

Full Company Profiles

get_company returns everything the site publishes about a single company in one call. The funding object contains disclosed_total, rounds_disclosed, rounds_known, and an array of individual rounds with amount, stage, date, and source. The founders and board arrays share a common person shape. The investors array includes each investor's name, kind, and the evidence the site has linked to them. Additional fields cover tags, hq, founded year, website, linkedin_url, and a news array of press items with title, url, source, and date.

SEC Form D Deal Radar

list_recent_raises mirrors the homepage Deal Radar: the most recent SEC Form D filings linked to tracked companies and fund vehicles, newest first. Each row carries accession_no, filed date, issuer_name, subject_kind (either company or fund), and a subject_name that maps back to the site's own profile when one exists. Pass subject_kind=company to see only operating-company filings, or subject_kind=fund to see only fund vehicles. The total_on_page field shows how many filings the homepage exposes before any filter is applied.

Reliability & maintenance

The Fundraising Fox API is a managed, monitored endpoint for fundraisingfox.com — not a raw scraper you maintain. Every endpoint is automatically health-checked on a schedule, and when fundraisingfox.com changes and a check fails, the API is automatically queued for repair and re-verified. It is built to keep working as the site underneath it changes.

This isn't an official fundraisingfox.com API — it's an independent, maintained REST wrapper over public data. Where the source has no official API (or only a limited one), Parse gives you a stable contract over a source that never promised one, and keeps it current. Need a new endpoint or field? You can revise it yourself in plain English and the agent rebuilds it against the live site in minutes — contributing the change back to the shared API is free.

Will this API break when the source site changes?+
It's built not to. Every endpoint is health-checked on a schedule with automated test probes. When the source site changes and a check fails, the API is automatically queued for repair and re-verified — that's the self-healing layer. Each API page shows when its endpoints were last verified. And because marketplace APIs are shared, any fix reaches everyone using it.
Is this an official API from the source site?+
No — Parse APIs are independent, managed REST wrappers over publicly available data. That is the point: where a site has no official API (or only a limited one), Parse gives you a maintained, monitored endpoint for that data and keeps it working as the site changes — so you get a stable contract over a source that never promised one.
Can I fix or extend this API myself if I need a new endpoint or field?+
Yes — and you don't have to wait on us. This API was generated by the Parse agent, which stays attached. Describe the change in plain English ("add an endpoint that returns reviews", "fix the price field") in the revise box on the API page or via the revise_api MCP tool, and the agent rebuilds it against the live site in minutes. Contributing the change back to the public API is free.
What happens if I call an endpoint that has an issue?+
Errors are machine-readable: a bad call returns a clean status with the list of available endpoints and a repair hint, so an agent (or you) can recover or trigger a fix instead of failing silently. Confirmed failures feed the automatic repair queue.
Common use cases
  • Monitor the latest SEC Form D filings for venture-backed startups by polling list_recent_raises daily
  • Build an investor-overlap graph by collecting investors arrays across many companies via list_companies + get_company
  • Track YC batch companies by filtering search_companies results on the yc_batch field
  • Enrich a CRM with funding stage, disclosed total, and HQ data from get_company
  • Identify board composition and founder history for due-diligence workflows using the board and founders arrays
  • Aggregate press coverage timelines for startups using the news array returned by get_company
  • Scan fund vehicle filings separately from operating-company raises using the subject_kind=fund filter on list_recent_raises

Frequently asked questions
Does Fundraising Fox have an official developer API?+
No. Fundraising Fox does not publish a public developer API or documented data access program. This Parse API is the structured interface for accessing the site's public data.
What does `get_company` return about funding rounds?+
The funding object includes a disclosed_total display string, a rounds_disclosed count, a rounds_known count (which may be higher when the site has evidence of undisclosed rounds), and a rounds array. Each round entry carries amount, stage, date, and source.
Does the `list_recent_raises` endpoint return historical SEC Form D filings beyond what the homepage shows?+
It returns the filings shown on the Fundraising Fox homepage Deal Radar — roughly 14 rows at the time of writing — filtered optionally by subject_kind. Historical filing archives beyond that set are not covered by this endpoint. You can fork the API on Parse and revise it to add an endpoint that retrieves deeper filing history if that data becomes available on the site.
Is investor contact information (email, phone) included in the `investors` array?+
No. The investors array contains each investor's name, kind classification, and the site's linked evidence — not contact details. Fundraising Fox's public profiles do not expose email or phone data. You can fork the API on Parse and revise it to enrich investor records from an additional source.
Does `search_companies` support pagination or filtering by tags, location, or funding stage?+
The search_companies endpoint returns the site's typeahead match set for a name query — typically a handful of rows — with no pagination and no filter parameters for tags, HQ city, or funding stage. The list_companies endpoint pages through the full directory alphabetically but also does not expose filter parameters. You can fork the API on Parse and revise it to add filtered browsing if the site exposes that surface.
