What is the Cinema City API?
The Cinema City Hungary API exposes 6 endpoints covering every venue, screening schedule, and upcoming premiere on cinemacity.hu. Call get_showtimes to retrieve a full day's programme for a specific cinema — including film metadata, auditorium, start times, dubbing/subtitle languages, and sold-out status. The remaining endpoints cover site-wide now-playing films, coming-soon premieres, per-cinema calendar dates, and detailed upcoming film listings.
No input parameters required.

}About the Cinema City API
Venues and Scheduling
list_cinemas returns every Cinema City Hungary venue with its cinema_id, name, city, street address, postal code, coordinates, and an online_sales_blocked flag. The cinema_id field is the key used by all schedule-related endpoints. list_screening_dates accepts a cinema_id and returns the full ordered list of calendar days (ISO YYYY-MM-DD) on which that cinema has at least one screening within the next year — useful for driving a date-picker or availability check without fetching full schedules upfront.
Daily Showtimes
get_showtimes is the core scheduling endpoint. It accepts a cinema_id and an optional date parameter (ISO YYYY-MM-DD, defaulting to today in Hungary) and returns two parallel arrays: films (with film_id, title, length_minutes, release_date, release_year, attributes such as age rating and format tags like imax or 4dx, plus poster_url and trailer_url) and screenings (with screening_id, film_id, start_time as a local ISO datetime, auditorium, dubbing/subtitle language fields, a sold-out flag, and remaining-seat signals). Response also echoes cinema_id, date, film_count, and screening_count.
Site-Wide Programme and Premieres
list_now_playing returns every film currently showing across all Cinema City Hungary cinemas, with each film's Hungarian release_date, showing_type (SHOWING or FUTURE), attribute tags covering genres and formats, poster_url, trailer_url, and a film-page link. list_premieres returns the same row shape but for upcoming titles not yet in general release, including their Hungarian premiere date. Both are single requests with no parameters.
Upcoming Films Per Cinema
list_upcoming_film_dates scopes the coming-soon list to a single cinema. It returns films first screened after the given date parameter (or today if omitted), including a screening_dates array per film showing exactly which days it is scheduled at that venue. This makes it straightforward to build per-cinema premiere calendars or notify users about new arrivals at a specific location.
The Cinema City API is a managed, monitored endpoint for cinemacity.hu — not a raw scraper you maintain. Every endpoint is automatically health-checked on a schedule, and when cinemacity.hu changes and a check fails, the API is automatically queued for repair and re-verified. It is built to keep working as the site underneath it changes.
This isn't an official cinemacity.hu API — it's an independent, maintained REST wrapper over public data. Where the source has no official API (or only a limited one), Parse gives you a stable contract over a source that never promised one, and keeps it current. Need a new endpoint or field? You can revise it yourself in plain English and the agent rebuilds it against the live site in minutes — contributing the change back to the shared API is free.

list_screening_datesbefore querying showtimes. - Monitor sold-out screenings across a cinema's daily schedule using the sold-out flag in the
screeningsarray. - Filter IMAX, 4DX, or VIP screenings by inspecting the
attributestag list returned in each film or screening record. - Display a chain-wide coming-soon section using

Does Cinema City Hungary have an official developer API?+
What does `get_showtimes` return beyond basic start times?+
get_showtimes returns two arrays for the requested cinema and date. The films array includes length_minutes, release_date, format/language attribute tags, poster_url, and trailer_url. The screenings array adds auditorium, start_time as a local ISO datetime, dubbing and subtitle language fields, a sold-out flag, and remaining-seat signals, alongside film_count and screening_count summary fields.Does the API cover Cinema City venues outside Hungary?+
list_cinemas returns only venues operated under cinemacity.hu, which covers Hungary. Cinema City operates in other countries under separate regional sites. You can fork this API on Parse and revise it to point at a different regional Cinema City domain if you need coverage for another country. Can I retrieve showtimes for multiple cinemas or multiple dates in one request?+
get_showtimes accepts one cinema_id and one date per call, returning that cinema's full programme for that single day. There is no batch parameter. For multi-cinema or multi-day coverage you make one request per combination. You can fork the API on Parse and add a batching or aggregation endpoint if your use case requires it.
