What is the Com API?

The Afric Food Store API provides structured access to africfoodstore.com.ng across 4 endpoints, covering the full product catalogue, individual product details, store contact and ordering information, and per-country shipping rates. The list_products endpoint returns all 65 catalogue cards in a single call, including variant slugs, categories, and pricing. Lists the store's whole catalogue in one call (the shop page renders every product; 65 products at build time, no pagination). Each row is one catalogue card: a single product, or an option group (e.g. a pepper family sold in several varieties/sizes) whose purchasable members are listed under variants with their own product_id and slug. Prices are in Nigerian naira (NGN); price_min/price_max span the variants (equal for single products). Optional category filter is applied by the site and must be one of the category names returned in categories; query is a case-insensitive substring match over each card's name, summary, SKU and variant names, applied locally; sort is applied by the site. Returns an empty products list when nothing matches the query.

About the Com API

Catalogue and Product Data

The list_products endpoint returns the store's full catalogue in one response — no pagination. Each catalogue card includes a product_id, slug, variant names, and a summary. You can filter by category (using the category names the store's sidebar exposes), pass a query string for case-insensitive search across product names, SKUs, and variant names, or specify a sort order matching the shop's own sort dropdown. The response also carries a categories array listing every shop category and a total_catalog_count for the unfiltered catalogue size.

Individual Product Details

Passing a slug from list_products to get_product retrieves a single product's full detail page. Returned fields include price (as an NGN number), tax_note, allergens (a statement string or null), in_stock, min_order_qty, max_order_qty, image_url, and options — an object keyed by option type (e.g. Variety, Size) where each entry carries a label, a slug pointing to the sibling product that option switches to, and a selected flag. Products with no variants return an empty options object.

Store Info and Ordering Flow

The get_store_info endpoint returns the store name, tagline, contact methods (emails, tel links, WhatsApp links, and contact form details), business_location indicators, and an ordering object that describes whether online ordering is available, the checkout steps, accepted payment gateways, and checkout fields. Phone numbers may be absent from the structured phones array when they appear only within banner images on the source site.

Shipping Rates by Country

The get_shipping_options endpoint accepts an ISO-2 country code and returns an array of rates — each with name, price in NGN, price_display, delivery_time, and a condition note for weight minimums. The basket_basis field quotes the site's reference basket statement so you know the weight/quantity context the rates were calculated against. A note field carries any free-text shipping note the store shows for that destination.

Reliability & maintenance

The Com API is a managed, monitored endpoint for africfoodstore.com.ng — not a raw scraper you maintain. Every endpoint is automatically health-checked on a schedule, and when africfoodstore.com.ng changes and a check fails, the API is automatically queued for repair and re-verified. It is built to keep working as the site underneath it changes.

This isn't an official africfoodstore.com.ng API — it's an independent, maintained REST wrapper over public data. Where the source has no official API (or only a limited one), Parse gives you a stable contract over a source that never promised one, and keeps it current. Need a new endpoint or field? You can revise it yourself in plain English and the agent rebuilds it against the live site in minutes — contributing the change back to the shared API is free.

Will this API break when the source site changes?+
It's built not to. Every endpoint is health-checked on a schedule with automated test probes. When the source site changes and a check fails, the API is automatically queued for repair and re-verified — that's the self-healing layer. Each API page shows when its endpoints were last verified. And because marketplace APIs are shared, any fix reaches everyone using it.
Is this an official API from the source site?+
No — Parse APIs are independent, managed REST wrappers over publicly available data. That is the point: where a site has no official API (or only a limited one), Parse gives you a maintained, monitored endpoint for that data and keeps it working as the site changes — so you get a stable contract over a source that never promised one.
Can I fix or extend this API myself if I need a new endpoint or field?+
Yes — and you don't have to wait on us. This API was generated by the Parse agent, which stays attached. Describe the change in plain English ("add an endpoint that returns reviews", "fix the price field") in the revise box on the API page or via the revise_api MCP tool, and the agent rebuilds it against the live site in minutes. Contributing the change back to the public API is free.
What happens if I call an endpoint that has an issue?+
Errors are machine-readable: a bad call returns a clean status with the list of available endpoints and a repair hint, so an agent (or you) can recover or trigger a fix instead of failing silently. Confirmed failures feed the automatic repair queue.
Common use cases
  • Sync the full Afric Food Store catalogue into a price-comparison tool using list_products with category filters
  • Display allergen information for African food products by fetching allergens from get_product
  • Check real-time NGN prices and stock status for specific product slugs before surfacing them to customers
  • Build a delivery cost estimator for diaspora shoppers by querying get_shipping_options with their ISO-2 country code
  • Populate a product variant picker (size, variety) using the options object returned by get_product
  • Extract store contact methods and payment gateway details from get_store_info for a third-party ordering integration
  • Track catalogue size changes over time using total_catalog_count from list_products

Frequently asked questions
Does africfoodstore.com.ng have an official developer API?+
No. The site does not publish a public developer API or documentation. This Parse API is the structured programmatic interface available for the catalogue and store data.
What does `get_product` return for products sold in multiple sizes or varieties?+
For multi-variant products, the options field is an object keyed by option type (e.g. Variety, Size). Each entry is an array of objects with a label, a slug pointing to the sibling product that option represents, and a selected boolean. Single products return an empty options object. This lets you navigate the full variant tree using only additional get_product calls.
Does the catalogue endpoint paginate results?+
No. list_products returns the entire catalogue in a single response — 65 products at the time this API was built. The count field reflects results after any query or category filter, and total_catalog_count always reflects the unfiltered size.
Are customer reviews or ratings available through this API?+
Not currently. The API covers catalogue cards, product details (price, allergens, stock, options), store contact info, and per-country shipping rates. You can fork the API on Parse and revise it to add a reviews endpoint if the source site exposes review data.
Are phone numbers always present in the `get_store_info` contact data?+
Not always. The phones array may be empty when phone numbers appear only inside banner images on the site rather than as text or tel links. The emails, whatsapp_links, and contact_form fields are more reliably populated. If phone extraction matters for your use case, you can fork the API on Parse and revise it to add additional extraction logic.
