What is the Wheatland Auction Services API?

The Wheatland Auction Services API exposes two endpoints covering the current online auction catalog at wheatlandauctionservices.com: search_lots returns paginated lot cards with inventory IDs, titles, grading details, status, and minimum bid data, while get_lot returns a full detail record for a single lot including bid count, pre-sale estimate, condition text, and category breadcrumb. Both endpoints return structured data for sports cards and memorabilia lots denominated in USD.

1-based page of 20 lots, maximum 25.
Result ordering, applied by the site.
Keyword searched in the field named by search_field. Empty browses the whole auction (or the chosen category).
Keep only lots in this state on the fetched page. Omitted = no filtering.
Numeric category code from the site's category dropdown; 1 is all categories. Ignored when query is non-empty. Unknown codes are passed to the site, which returns the unfiltered catalog.

Returns one page (fixed 20 lots) of the current auction's lot cards, optionally keyword-searched, category-browsed and sorted. Each row carries the site's native numeric inventory_id (use it with get_lot), lot number, title, URL, grading parsed only when a grader and grade are explicitly printed in the title (otherwise null), a status derived from the card ('completed' when the card prints a final price, otherwise 'active'), and separate price roles: minimum_bid (the printed minimum/opening bid), current_bid (only printed on open lots; null on closed ones), and final_price_incl_premium (printed only after closing; includes the buyer's premium per the auction banner). All amounts are USD under the auctioneer's Terms clause 3. A closed card is not evidence that the lot sold; no sold flag is emitted. The page parameter walks the site's sequential Next control, so page N costs N round trips; has_more is true when the site offers a further page. status filters the fetched page locally, so page_lot_count (unfiltered count) can exceed len(lots). A keyword search covers the whole auction; the site drops the category filter when a query is present, so category only applies to browsing with an empty query. A query with no matches returns an empty lots array.

About the Wheatland Auction Services API

Searching and Browsing Lots

search_lots returns a fixed page of 20 lot cards from the current auction catalog. You can supply a query string to keyword-search lots and select which field is matched via search_field. When no query is provided, the category parameter accepts the site's numeric category codes (1 returns all categories) to browse a specific segment of the auction. Results can be ordered with the sort parameter and further narrowed client-side with status filtering. The response includes has_more to indicate additional pages (up to page 25), auction_name, auction_message (the catalog banner, such as closing notices and buyer's premium notes), and page_lot_count showing how many lots were on the page before any status filter was applied.

Lot Detail Records

get_lot takes a single required input — inventory_id, a numeric string emitted by search_lots — and returns a structured record for that lot. The response includes lot_number, title, url, status (active or completed), current_bid (null when bidding has closed), bid_count, estimate (low and high pre-sale figures), condition (printed condition grade text), and grading (an object with grader and grade fields, populated only when explicit third-party grading appears in the title). The category field returns the breadcrumb path as shown on the site.

Grading and Currency Notes

Grading data in both endpoints is parsed only when a recognized third-party grader and grade are explicitly present in the lot title; otherwise both grader and grade fields are null. All monetary values across the API are USD, per the auction's stated terms. The condition field in get_lot reflects printed condition text from the lot description and is separate from the structured grading object.

Reliability & maintenanceVerified

The Wheatland Auction Services API is a managed, monitored endpoint for wheatlandauctionservices.com — not a raw scraper you maintain. Every endpoint is automatically health-checked on a schedule, and when wheatlandauctionservices.com changes and a check fails, the API is automatically queued for repair and re-verified. It is built to keep working as the site underneath it changes.

This isn't an official wheatlandauctionservices.com API — it's an independent, maintained REST wrapper over public data. Where the source has no official API (or only a limited one), Parse gives you a stable contract over a source that never promised one, and keeps it current. Need a new endpoint or field? You can revise it yourself in plain English and the agent rebuilds it against the live site in minutes — contributing the change back to the shared API is free.

Will this API break when the source site changes?+
It's built not to. Every endpoint is health-checked on a schedule with automated test probes. When the source site changes and a check fails, the API is automatically queued for repair and re-verified — that's the self-healing layer. Each API page shows when its endpoints were last verified. And because marketplace APIs are shared, any fix reaches everyone using it.
Is this an official API from the source site?+
No — Parse APIs are independent, managed REST wrappers over publicly available data. That is the point: where a site has no official API (or only a limited one), Parse gives you a maintained, monitored endpoint for that data and keeps it working as the site changes — so you get a stable contract over a source that never promised one.
Can I fix or extend this API myself if I need a new endpoint or field?+
Yes — and you don't have to wait on us. This API was generated by the Parse agent, which stays attached. Describe the change in plain English ("add an endpoint that returns reviews", "fix the price field") in the revise box on the API page or via the revise_api MCP tool, and the agent rebuilds it against the live site in minutes. Contributing the change back to the public API is free.
What happens if I call an endpoint that has an issue?+
Errors are machine-readable: a bad call returns a clean status with the list of available endpoints and a repair hint, so an agent (or you) can recover or trigger a fix instead of failing silently. Confirmed failures feed the automatic repair queue.
Common use cases
  • Monitor active lot prices in real time by polling get_lot for current_bid and bid_count updates.
  • Build a category-filtered lot browser using search_lots with numeric category codes and sort ordering.
  • Aggregate pre-sale estimate ranges from estimate.low and estimate.high across multiple lots for market research.
  • Extract graded card lots by filtering search_lots results where grading.grader and grading.grade are non-null.
  • Track lot status transitions from active to completed by comparing status values across repeated calls.
  • Compile a full auction catalog by paginating search_lots across up to 25 pages and resolving each inventory_id with get_lot.
  • Capture closing notices and buyer's premium details from the auction_message field in search_lots.

Frequently asked questions
Does Wheatland Auction Services offer an official developer API?+
No. Wheatland Auction Services does not publish a public developer API or documented data feed. This Parse API is the structured programmatic interface for their auction catalog data.
What does `get_lot` return that `search_lots` does not?+
get_lot returns fields not available in the lot card: bid_count, the estimate object (low and high pre-sale figures), condition text from the description, the full category breadcrumb path, and a description field with the lot's full text. The current_bid field in get_lot is also null when bidding has closed, clearly signaling a completed lot.
Does the API cover historical or past auction results?+
The API covers the current auction catalog only. Past auction archives and historical hammer prices are not exposed. You can fork this API on Parse and revise it to add an endpoint targeting historical auction result pages.
How does pagination work in `search_lots`, and are there limits?+
Each page returns a fixed 20 lots. The has_more field indicates whether additional pages exist, and you can request up to page 25 (500 lots total). The page_lot_count field shows how many lots the source returned on that page before any status filter you specified was applied locally.
Can I retrieve individual bidder identities or bid histories through the API?+
No bidder identity or itemized bid history is exposed. The API returns bid_count (total bids placed) and current_bid (the current high bid) for each lot. You can fork this API on Parse and revise it to target any bid-history detail the site makes available.
